Early Newcastle team news emerges ahead of game v Everton

Several Newcastle players’ fitness is being called into question ahead of their Premier League match against Everton. The Toffees host Eddie Howe’s men at Goodison Park on 5 October with both sides coming off the back of a decent result last time out.

Howe has confirmed that Martin Dubravka and Fabian Schar both took knocks in the 1-0 win against Wimbledon on Tuesday 1 October. Speaking to the Northern Echo (2 October), Howe shared an injury update on a handful of his players. “Martin has taken a nasty bang to his knee.

We hope he’s all right, but we’ll wait and see how that settles down tomorrow,” he said. “I’ve no idea at the moment in time. I don’t know whether it’s a knock or anything more serious.

“I think it was a couple of things. Hopefully, he’s [Schar] okay. It was a bang to his ankle and a bit of tightness in his body.”
