After seven difficult Championship games, Pompey has emerged with an “okay” grade

from John Mousinho. Despite his refusal to admit that, by comparison

October presents much more favorable opposition.

The unlucky Blues are currently second from bottom with two points after facing

six of the top eight teams plus Luton.

With Oxford United, a fellow League One promotion contender,

and four of the bottom eight, at least October’s calendar looks more promising.

The first match of the month is a Wednesday night trip to Stoke.

who are currently leading by two points and have already appointed Narcis Pelach

as their second manager of the season.

However, Mousinho does not see a decline in opposition caliber in what

will undoubtedly be a crucial month for Pompey.

We always knew it was going to be a challenging time and a challenging spell.

He said to The News. Though some may argue that the schedule now appears differently,

I think every Championship game is incredibly tough. Stoke won’t do anything to help.

they’ll get right to it.

So far, I think we’ve done alright; there have been a few things that I’m happy with.

We’ve participated in most of the games and won some.

but we haven’t won as much as we should have, which is disheartening.

“Even when you compare us to Middlesbrough and Leeds,

We are winning into injury time and managed to escape with draws.” Going into injury time,

We are level with Burnley and have lost.

‘The performances have been decent in patches, but we need to defend better.

We need to score a lot more. The squad’s greatest quality right now is their game-by-game

improvement over the previous three contests.

When people mentioned that our eighth game was away to Stoke

and that the first seven were really difficult; it always made me laugh.

That ranks up there with the most challenging matches in the Championship

schedule, in my opinion.

We intended to win against Sheffield United regardless of who we played.

and we almost managed to take three points away from that game.

We want to keep doing it even though it was last year in the Premier League

against a team vying for promotion.

We exerted intense pressure on Luton, as well as intense pressure on Middlesbrough.

Leeds, and Burnley. Regardless of the opponent, we have to make sure we accomplish

that for every side we play and win points.

Apart from Stoke, Pompey will also play Oxford on October 5 and Sheffield on October 25.
QPR on October 19, and rock-bottom Cardiff on October 22.
