Tottenham, Newcastle United and Leicester City all doing transfer work in Portugal – Club officials travel
Premier League clubs are no strangers to observing players who play in Portugal, and English spies can regularly be found in the stands at major clubs.
According to Monday’s issue of O Jogo, officials from Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Leicester City attended FC Porto’s home
game against Arouca yesterday. Representatives from VfL Wolfsburg, PSG, Real Betis, and Granada were also present.
Manchester United had someone there, and while they frequently look for young talent in Portugal, their trip this time was most likely
tied to their upcoming match against Porto.
While it’s unclear who Tottenham, Newcastle United, and Leicester City were keeping an eye on, Porto won convincingly 4-0.
Samu Omorodion, a summer addition, and Galeno, who has been connected with a number of teams in recent months, both scored goals.
In another report, O Jogo stated that Omorodion and Galeno delivered outstanding performances, earning both players a rating of 7.
Nico Gonzalez and Denis Gul were also on the scoresheet.
Porto’s starting XI included goalkeeper Diogo Costa and 23-year-old midfielder Alan Varela, with 27-year-old winger Pepe starting on the
left. Costa and Varela appear to be prominent targets for major transfers in the coming months.
