Champions League Preview: Borussia Dortmund vs Celtic
Celtic, the winners of the Scottish Premiership, will take on Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday
in the opening match of the Champions League’s second round.
On the first matchday, both teams came out on top, with Celtic defeating Slovan Bratislava 5-1
and Dortmund defeating Brugge 3-0.
Dortmund is now three points behind the league leaders, Bayern Munich,
in fifth position in the Bundesliga table after a mediocre start to the season.
Nuri Sahin’s team defeated Bochum last week, which was a significant win
following their humiliating 5-1 loss to Stuttgart on the road the previous week.
After competing in numerous European games for Dortmund as a player,
Sahin will now be managing a Champions League match at home.
“We should never take for granted the opportunity to enjoy evenings such as these;
it has been amazing for several years.” Here at our stadium,
each game has a distinct past,” remarked Sahin.
Celtic currently sit at the top of their domestic league with 18 points
and are in excellent form having won all of their games so far.
However, history is not on their side for this fixture as they are yet to beat
Borussia Dortmund and have never won a competitive fixture in Germany.
