Vaclav Cerny slammed live on Sky Sports for what he did in Rangers first half v Hibs
Vaclav Cerny was slammed by Neil McCann live on Sky Sports for switching off defensively in the first half of Rangers versus Hibernian at Ibrox. Tom Lawrence broke the deadlock on 34 minutes with a wonderful striker after Cerny spurned several chances to give the Gers the lead and nearly cost his side at the other end.
McCann was unimpressed with the forward when speaking live on co-commentary for Sky Sports Football [29 September, 12:33pm] for leaving his defensive duties and allowing Kwon Hyeok-ku a clean shot on goal. He said: “Cerny just switches off.
He switched off from his defensive duties, he’s on the break forward [Hyeok-kyu]. “He still has a job to there [Cerny], Cohen’s coming in, he’s coming across it.”
Rangers did at least lead 1-0 at the break thanks to Lawrence’s stunning opener. Vaclav Cerny has another howler for Rangers The 26-year-old should be on his hands and knees at half-time thanking Lawrence, his goal has momentarily distracted from an underwhelming first-half display from the forward.
Clement awarded Cerny an opportunity to right his wrongs after missing a handful of chances in the 2-0 win against Malmo, a chance that has seemingly passed over his head.
Rangers created few clear opportunities in the opening 45 minutes prior to Lawrence’s stunning opener, but Cerny spurned a couple of decent chances that would have had Philippe Clement feeling a little more comfortable. Lawrence did raise the decibel levels at Ibrox with his wonder goal but but the game is far from decided,
and you could argue Clement must act now by hauling off Cerny, a missed penalty from Mykola Kuharevich shortly before the break almost really adding to the boss’ woes.
Cerny is proving a liability at both ends of the pitch for Rangers and if his midweek performance is anything to go by, his afternoon will not improve in the second half. Clement must act and end the forward’s outing and integrate some more creativity onto the pitch to unlock the Hibs defence – especially now they are going to have to show a touch more adventure. Nedim Bajrami must emerge from the tunnel for the second half at Cerny’s expense. In other Rangers news, Cyriel Dessers has been lauded after what Barry Ferguson saw him do.
