JUST IN: Nottingham Forest tipped to sack Nuno Espírito Santo following defeat from Fulham, set to bring in Wolves Gary O’Neil.
Evangelos Marinakis will have no issues with sacking Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo if he feels he isn’t the right man for the job.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Forest owner is “very ambitious” after reports have emerged around Nuno’s future.
The Portuguese manager joined the club on a deal until 2026 last December following the sacking of Steve Cooper.
Nuno managed to guide Forest to Premier League safety despite being hit with a four-point deduction for breaching the league’s spending rules.
O’Rourke revealed there has been talk around Marco Silva potentially replacing the 50-year-old at the City Ground following his work at Fulham over the past few seasons.
Nuno Espirito Santo could leave Nottingham Forest despite fighting off relegation
Nuno has come under some criticism from Forest fans for his defensive style of play since taking charge.
But his side scored 32 of their 49 Premier League goals under the Portuguese last season, having overseen 21 league games.
That ensured Forest will be playing in the top flight again next season, but it hasn’t stopped speculation emerging around his future at the City Ground.
O’Rourke revealed it’s unlikely Silva would leave Fulham to join the Nottingham club after only signing a new contract until 2026 last October.
Forest are also believed to be at risk of breaching the financial rules again this year and need to make around £30million in profit from player sales over the coming weeks.
