WOLVES FITNESS UPDATE! “I feel 100% fit” – Wolves man provides positive Affirmation in preparation for…
Feyenoord manager Brian Priske has been pleased to have signed Hugo Bueno on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer window.
The left-back made his debut for the Eredivisie side in their 5-1 win over PEC Zwolle last month. He hasn’t featured since then due to an injury.
On August 27th, Feyenoord confirmed the Wolves man will be out of action for “several weeks”. Last Friday, we covered claims from the Dutch press that he’s still not fit enough to return to the pitch.
Bueno was the guest on Feyenoord’s City Trip, a show where the host shows the player parts of Rotterdam. He has given an update on his fitness and his comments are relayed by 1908.nl.
The 22-year-old believes he’s ready to feature when Feyenoord face NEC later today in the league.
“I try to prepare my body for everything, but sometimes things happen. I always tell myself: everything happens for a reason. I’m working hard in the gym on my recovery, so I’m sure I’ll come back strong,” he said.
“We just have to stay positive, and I’ll be back playing soon. Maybe this weekend, I don’t know how many minutes yet, but I feel 100% fit.”
The Spaniard’s setback has seen him follow Feyenoord’s last few fixtures from the stands. This has made him reassure the first feeling he had about the club.
“Feyenoord is a big club, I noticed that right away when I arrived. Now during my injury, I watch the games from the stands, then you immediately have that feeling. Since day one that I have been here, I have been happy with my choice with Feyenoord,” Bueno explained.
Wolves initially signed the fullback for their academy in 2019 and promoted him to their first team in 2022.
On his early days at Wolves, he said: “It was difficult at first, but later I quickly felt at ease. I lived there for five wonderful years.”
He was limited to 732 minutes from 22 Premier League games last season. Gary O’Neil has favoured Rayan Aït-Nouri on the left side of the defence at Molineux. This convinced Bueno to leave Wolves on loan.
“The Premier League is great, everyone wants to play there. After my debut for Wolves, I had a lot of playing minutes in the Premier League, especially the first year. I enjoyed every moment, in every stadium. But now I wanted something new. I’m really looking forward to playing again,” the Spaniard added.
