Despite a slow start to Saturday’s match,

the Toffees managed to move out of the bottom three for the first time this season after having only one point from their first five games.

After Maxence Lacroix was knocked down from a corner,

England center-half Marc Guehi was the first to react and poked in from close range to give Palace the lead on minute ten.

Everton has struggled with set pieces this season, and they came dangerously close

to conceding again when Daniel Munoz’s header went in goal but was pushed off the line by Iliman Ndiaye.

At the other end, Everton struggled to get past visiting goalkeeper Dean Henderson in the first half,

as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and McNeil failed to convert headed attempts.

However, the home team answered almost away when play resumed,

as McNeil’s powerful long-range strike swerved past Henderson and tucked into the far corner of the net.

The crowd went wild after Everton’s equalizer,

and McNeil controlled Jack Harrison’s cross before volleying in from the angle to give his team a brief lead.

Oliver Glasner’s team needs to improve as they have only managed three points from their six games thus far,

and they hardly looked dangerous following an outstanding first half.

Dyche adjustment aids in Toffees’ recovery
After falling behind and being loudly jeered off by the home crowd at halftime,

Everton’s awful season on the field appeared to be going even worse.

The club’s administration has backed Dyche, considering his job to be “safe,” yet at halftime,

the supporters’ perception of their manager was getting dangerously close to zero.

The former Burnley manager needed to make a personnel or setup adjustment to gain a firm grip on the game because he was desperate for a win.

Jack Harrison took over for Dane Jesper Lindstrom, who had a terrible 45 minutes of play,

and it was a huge boost for the team.

Two minutes into the second half, McNeil scored their first goal with

an unexpected pot shot that left Henderson flat. Harrison then set up their second goal by finding his teammate at the far post.

Star center-back Jarrad Branthwaite made his season debut and appeared unaffected by the groin ailment that had been holding him back.

Everton continued to build on their winning record against Palace, having suffered just one loss in their previous 20 meetings.

Palace and Glasner still have work to do.
In football, things may change drastically very rapidly.

It appeared at this time last week that co-owner of Palace John Textor was going to transfer clubs and move to Goodison Park, but it appears the Friedkin Group has put a stop to that.

Following a run of strong performances,

Austrian manager Glasner praised for his appointment in February and his ability to guide the team to a 10th-place finish.

This season, though, has been somewhat different as they have lost all six of their games and have struggled to cling onto leads they have already taken.

There is still work for Palace and Glasner to undertake.
Things in football may change extremely quickly and dramatically.

John Textor, a co-owner of Palace, seemed like he was going to go to Goodison Park

and change clubs at this time last week, but it looks like the Friedkin Group has put an end to it.

The Austrian manager Glasner was commended for his arrival in February and his ability to lead the squad to a 10th-place finish after a string of impressive performances.

They have lost all six of their games this season, though, and have found it difficult to hold onto leads they have previously acquired.
