The Dallas Cowboys are in a tailspin. Back-to-back home losses to the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens have dropped Dallas to 1-2. If the Cowboys want any shot at making the postseason, they need to win this week’s game against the New York Giants.

Clearly whatever they are doing isn’t working, so if they want to win this game the Cowboys are going to need to switch some things up. With that in mind, today we look at two players the Cowboys should use more moving forward to help get this train back on track.

When KaVontae Turpin touches the football, good things tend to happen. This season, the Cowboys have gotten the 28-year-old somewhat more involved in the offense and it’s paid off. Through three games, Turpin has five receptions for 55 yards, three of which have gone for first downs, and one receiving touchdown.

While Turpin is already well on his way to surpassing all his offensive totals from the 2023 season, the Cowboys still aren’t using him as much as they should be. Turpin has been on the field for just 20% of the Cowboys’ offensive snaps this season. Even Jalen Brooks, who has had a very rough start to the year, has been on the field more than Turpin, seeing 25% of Dallas’ offensive snaps.

Dallas’ offense lacks speed, which is the former undrafted free agent’s best quality. Turpin has shown this season he can be trusted to do more than just run jet sweeps or misdirection plays, and the Cowboys need to give him more opportunities.

Throwing Turpin one or two deep balls and getting more passes to him in space would greatly benefit Dallas’ offense and give them a new dynamic that they currently lack.
