Craig Whyte, the former Rangers chief, expressed sympathy for Andrew Tate, a self-proclaimed sexist who is facing allegations of human

trafficking, rape, and creating a criminal organization to abuse women.

Tate is renowned for expressing misogynistic sentiments online and has about 10 million followers on the social media platform X. The

37-year-old is on trial in Romania, but he has consistently stated that prosecutors have no evidence against him and that there is a

political conspiracy to suppress him.

The former kickboxer rose to prominence after appearing on Big Brother in 2016, when he lasted only six days before being eliminated

due to the release of a video purporting to show him attacking a woman. Tate stated at the time that the film had been manipulated and

was “a total lie trying to make me look bad”.

Whyte has now linked his own predicament to Tate’s in terms of the treatment he had from the media during his Rangers takeover, which

saw him jailed and charged with fraud before being cleared by a jury two years later after a seven-week trial.

Whyte bought the club, which was facing a potential hefty tax payment, from David Murray for just £1, and during the court battle, his

partner Phil Betts stated the acquisition was completed when a pound coin was flipped in a “light-hearted” manner at Murray’s lawyers.
