Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou found himself fielding questions about a controversial moment involving goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario during Spurs’ 3-1 victory over Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Despite the result bringing much-needed relief to the North London side, the post-match discussion was dominated by the debate over whether Vicario handled the ball outside the penalty area.
The incident occurred in the second half when Brentford were chasing the game. Vicario appeared to handle the ball just outside the box, but the referee made no call, and VAR chose not to intervene.
The decision sparked frustration from Brentford, leading to yellow cards for both manager Thomas Frank and defender Kristoffer Ajer for protesting on the touchline.

In his post-match press conference, as reported by football.london, Postecoglou’s response to the incident was notably curt. When asked about his thoughts on whether Vicario had handled the ball, Postecoglou dryly replied: “I think I saw exactly what you saw.”
When the journalist admitted they weren’t certain, Postecoglou playfully responded, “What makes you think I’m more sure? Was it because I was closer to the pitch? You were higher up. Maybe we saw the same thing.”
Pressed on whether Tottenham were fortunate not to concede a free-kick in that situation, Postecoglou shrugged off the suggestion, pointing out that even if a free-kick had been awarded, it would have made little difference. “If it wasn’t an obvious goalscoring opportunity, it would have been just a free-kick outside the box. And that’s a big turning point in the game?” he added with a laugh. “I guess we were lucky to get the result.”
Despite the potential controversy, Tottenham’s 3-1 win was a significant result for a side that had lost their previous two league games. Goals from Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, and James Maddison secured the win, ensuring the club could move forward with renewed momentum.
