Three Lions Set to Compete at ITA Men’s All-American Championships
This weekend at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, Columbia men’s tennis players Michael Zheng,
Hugo Hashimoto, and Nicolas Kotzen will compete as representatives of the Lions
in the ITA Men’s All-American Championships.
Starting on Saturday, September 21 and running through Sunday, September 29,
are the dates for the ITA Men’s All-American Championships.
The following will be the draw size for the championships: Singles: Pre-Qualifying (128), Qualifying (64),
Main Draw (64) and Doubles: Pre-Qualifying (32), Qualifying (32), Main Draw (32).
From this, ten singles players (10) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship
(eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists).
Meanwhile, four doubles teams (4) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship
through the All-American Championships (four main draw semifinalists).
Zheng qualified for the main draw singles bracket and will play on Wednesday, September 25.
Along with partner Hashimoto, Zheng also secured a spot in the doubles main draw.
On Wednesday, the pair will play their first doubles encounter.
Kotzen and Hashimoto were drawn into the qualifying draw and will play
their first singles match on Monday, September 23.
