‘So strong’: Gary Lineker blown away by ‘excellent’ Aston Villa gem who was a ‘handful’ after Young Boys win
One player was referred to be a “handful” when Aston Villa easily
defeated Young Boys 3-0 in the Champions League.
At Villa Park, Unai Emery could not have wished for a better start to the season.
The solitary loss for the Spaniard came against Arsenal, a game they may have won,
but he also won against West Ham, Leicester, Everton, and Young Boys.
Villa got off to a great start in the Champions League, finishing joint top of the table thanks to goals
from Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey, and Amadou Onana in Switzerland.
The aforementioned trio played a crucial role in their explosive start to the tournament,
but another individual also received a ton of recognition.
Gary Lineker was blown away by Morgan Rogers vs Young Boys
Morgan Rogers’s progress has exploded since he joined from Middlesborough during the January transfer window,
and he is currently among the first names on the team sheet.
Rogers has been called “unplayable” on several occasions because to his incredible
upper body power and lightning-fast speed, including by Jamie Redknapp against Arsenal
and TNT Sports analyst Darren Fletcher.
It’s been entertaining to see the Englishman dominate the opposition in the number 10 position,
and it comes as no surprise that Gary Lineker hailed the 22-year-old during the victory over Young Boys.
Despite not scoring or dishing up an assist, Rogers finished four successful dribbles
and four crucial passes for an xG of 0.23.
In an interview with the Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker praised his amazing qualities,
saying, “Morgan Rogers was excellent.” had a nice goal that was denied as well.
Does he not play the game? He really is a handful. He basically kind of flies by players when he runs towards them.
He never drops the ball because of his strength. He really is talented, in my opinion.
Morgan Rogers vs Wolves
As has been noted many times before, goals and assists are the only things missing from Rogers’ game.
Thus far, Rogers has shown selflessness on multiple times by supporting a teammate instead of taking
a chance from a favorable position.
The young player’s next task is to become a consistent supplier of goals and assists in order to advance
in his development, and Wolves provide him a fantastic chance to start off strong.
Wolves’ last clean sheet came in a 1-0 victory against Sheffield United in February.
They haven’t kept a clean sheet in 16 games. Rogers would be licking his lips if he could score this weekend,
and a derby match would be the ideal setting for it.
