Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool circle for former Premier League flop turned Serie A star
Following the dispatch of scouts to watch former Everton winger Ademola Lookman and Atalanta colleague
Ederson in the Champions League this week, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Arsenal have all increased
their interest in signing the player.
Lookman, 26, had patchy success during his Premier League stints with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester.
However, his impressive play in Italy has drawn interest from major European clubs, including Arsenal.
Lookman has been the focus of scouts ever since he scored three goals in the Europa League
final victory over Bayer Leverkusen in May, and according to TBR,
he is valued at €60 million (£50.3 million, $67 million).
As he and Ederson began their Champions League careers against Arsenal this week in Bergamo,
they were both observed by representatives from several Premier League clubs.
Manchester United is one of the teams vying for Ederson, and Paris Saint-Germain
has previously been linked to a transfer for Lookman.
Long-term retention of both players may prove challenging for Atalanta, and losing Ederson
would be especially tough given that Juventus has already recruited Teun Koopmeiners,
his former midfield partner and a guy who Liverpool was rumored to be interested in.
The Reds did not sign a midfield player at all, despite being strongly connected to Ederson
in the summer when a deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi of Spain fell through.
