Stoke City should be very excited – I have worked closely with Narcis Pelach
Carlos Corberan is happy to see that Stoke City has given Narcis Pelach, his former colleague, the chance to take charge of a Championship team.
After Huddersfield Town offered Pelach a similar opportunity in 2020, Corberan, the head coach of West Bromwich Albion, is credited with bringing Pelach to England in the first place as he was molding his coaching team. In less than two years, Corberan and Pelach helped the Terriers make it to the play-off final, when they were defeated by Nottingham Forest, the current Premier League leaders.
Pelach made the decision to stay in Yorkshire after Corberan and his other assistant coach, Jorge Alarcon, left for Olympiacos.
He finally resigned once Neil Warnock took over, but subsequently joined David Wagner and Norwich City for the whole of the previous campaign. With the goal of leading the team up the league table, Pelach, 36, takes over for the fired Steven Schumacher in the Potteries. This job description is not too dissimilar from Corberan’s own when he joined The Hawthorns.
