Football Insider has been informed by sources that Narcis Pelach has joined Stoke City as head coach instead of traditional manager.

Senior journalist Pete O’Rourke disclosed on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that the 36-year-old will primarily be focused on player coaching, with Walters and others handling transfers.
After just five games of the Championship season, Walters, 41, decided to break things off with Steven Schumacher. Walters had returned to the team in March as the sporting director.

Pelach, who worked under Carlos Corberan at Huddersfield before moving to Norwich, is well-liked in coaching circles.

Narcis Pelach: The biggest challenge will be to sustain performance because the Championship is something that comes every few days. Another thing is to live this situation as a number two and another thing is to live this situation as a number one. I am very focused on this. My brain is trying to organise something that doesn’t depend just on me. There are responsibilities of the staff so that everyone is doing his job every day and if I am not in the building the coaches, the fitness coaches, the analysts can get the job done. I am trying to create something that is for all of us.
