Leicester City‘s latest signing to make a debut as key players are sidelined
The newest addition to Leicester City will make their debut when important players are out.
Odsonne Edouard is likely to join the Leicester City team at the King Power Stadium
as Jamie Vardy’s backup now that he is available for the first time.
Odsonne Edouard is eager to play, and the wait for his Leicester City debut has given him more time
to prepare for this Saturday’s crucial matchup against Everton (3pm kickoff).
Due to his late signing, he was ineligible to play against Aston Villa on deadline day
while on loan from Crystal Palace. After the international break, the 26-year-old was unable to play
against his parent club this past weekend.
Just Patson Daka and Jakub Stolarczyk will be out for the City squad ahead of their matchup
with fellow winless team Everton, as no further injuries have been reported.
But, with the Frenchman prepared to play, Édouard’s availability
will probably mean a change in the starting lineup.
Having trained consistently for a few weeks with his new teammates,
he is anticipated to start on the bench and may substitute himself in when Jamie Vardy wears out.
The match on Saturday is maybe the biggest of the season thus far.
taking place against a team that is definitely one of their relegation opponents.
However, manager Steve Cooper has stated that Edouard has a wealth of experience
playing in high-stress situations due to his time with Celtic.
At his Thursday afternoon press conference, the manager remarked,
“It feels like he’s been with us for a while now.” He’s been able to learn about our expectations
for the team’s performance and his place within it,
as well as to grow in his connections with the staff and other team members.
“He gives the attacking portion of the pitch valuable experience.
Although he can play in a few slightly varied places at the top of the pitch,
His primary position on the field has been nine. I’ve mentioned before how I’d like a range of choices
and profiles that we can ideally choose carefully for each and every game.
A nice illustration of such is Odsonne. We’re having fun working with him,
so having him participate will be fantastic.
Jamie’s career has been shaped by his ability to play at the limit, run behind the ball,
and really step up in the box. These traits have made him well-known.
Yes, Odsonne can provide it as well.”In any position, you require multiple options.
Because of his time at Celtic and the large stage there,
he has expertise in both the Premier League and major games.
“The more attacking alternatives you have for adjustments during a game and before a game, the better.
That’s the nature of the current game; it goes beyond simply assigning players to specific positions
or the starting lineup. He gives us true variety, which is what’s important.
You noticed that we were a touch shorthanded there throughout the preseason due to the injuries
to Vards and Pato. We had to move some bodies inside.
However, it seems good to bring in the caliber we have.
The most intriguing selection conundrum right now may be in offensive midfield,
where Edouard isn’t expected to pose a threat to Vardy’s starting position.
Wilfred Ndidi did a fantastic job at Palace, but with more naturally creative outlets to work with
Behind the striker, Facundo Buonanotte and Bilal El Khannouss should now be on par.
