Crystal Palace Wonderkid reveals astonishing Man Utd move is on the verge as Ashworth strikes again.
Samuel Lusale, a Crystal Palace kid, claims to have revealed his probable move to Premier League rivals Manchester United with a social media post.
Selhurst Park officials hold great regard for the 17-year-old winger, who made a strong impression while rising through the ranks before turning down a scholarship offer this summer.
Lusale has been with the Eagles since the age of 13 and was part of their FA Youth Cup squad last season.
With Brexit laws preventing English teams from recruiting young talent from abroad, United’s new hierarchy, led by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and sporting director Dan Ashworth, is determined to attract the best young talent from UK academies.
Lusale joins Chido Obi-Martin, James Overy, Silva Mexes, and Camron Mpofu as recent additions to United’s illustrious academy.
The attacker confirmed his departure from Palace earlier this week, telling his Instagram followers: “My journey with Crystal Palace comes to an end, and a new door opens.”
“I’ll never forget the memories I made at Palace; without them, I wouldn’t be where I am now. But now we proceed to the next chapter.”
Lusale makes Man Utd reveal
Lusale took to Instagram again on Thursday, sharing a photo of himself on a TV screen next to the legendary Manchester United No.7 shirt with his name and an hourglass emoji.
It is thought that he will be officially named by the club in the coming days, marking another coup for Ashworth since his appointment at Old Trafford.
Lusale was called up by Slovakia’s Under-18 team during the recent international break and had an impressive performance in a 3-2 loss to Wales, scoring and assisting on the eve of his 17th birthday.
After becoming United’s sporting director in the summer, Ashworth made t very
It was evident that establishing a ‘thriving’ academy would be a ‘key objective’ of his new position.
“Youth development has been a huge part of my career and I see it as a crucial element of success for any football club – but especially for Manchester United where homegrown players have such a rich history,” he said on the team’s official website.
“The success of our Under-18s during the 2023/24 season speaks well for the next generation of male potential to emerge. “Overall, my first impression is of the scope of opportunity available to us at Manchester United as we review and refresh all aspects of the club.”
“This is still one of the world’s largest football teams, but that is not our metric of success; the focus is on returning to being among the greatest on the field.
“It won’t happen overnight, but, together with CEO Omar [Berrada] and his new leadership team, we will not rest until we have achieved it.” Ashworth also targets Southampton sensation and Vlahovic raid.
In other United news, Ashworth is attempting to sign a blossoming Southampton winger at the second time of asking. According to a new report from Give Me Sport, Ashworth is targeting Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, who eluded the director when at Newcastle.
Shworth was unable to bring the 18-year-old up to St. James’ Park, much to his disappointment. According to the report, he hopes to do better at Manchester United, and an approach is likely.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils are apparently planning to test Dusan Vlahovic’s interest in a January move to Old Trafford, as assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy is a ‘big admirer’ and ‘hungry’ to sign him.
Over the last two summers, United has added Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee to improve Ten Hag’s assault.
However, recently appointed assistant coach Van Nistelrooy appears to believe that there is insufficient talent, with FootballTransfers reporting that the famous former United attacker is ‘hungry’ for his club to sign Juventus forward Vlahovic.
