Leicester City could be dealt double hammer blow if relegated as The EFL seek new charges
Leicester City won their appeal against a Premier League fine for breaking spending regulations, but the team may not be out of the woods
yet.
Steve Cooper will have been as relieved as everyone when Leicester City beat the Premier League’s historic accusation of failing to comply
with PSR.
The ruling enraged the Premier League since Leicester essentially got away with a technicality because they were not deemed a Premier
League club at the time their finances were required to be filed, and Leicester’s attorneys took advantage of the laws’ poor drafting.
However, the ruling by an independent panel means that Cooper’s team has avoided a points deduction, considerably increasing their
prospects of survival. That is fantastic news for a variety of reasons, but it has now emerged that relegation could result in more
accusations against Leicester.
Leicester basically got away with breaking Premier League spending restrictions by being relegated, but this season’s fate is now more
likely to lead to punishment.
