Before the match, there was unrest outside the Celtic bar McChuills in Glasgow when

police escorted Slovan Bratislava supporters.

 

On Wednesday night, before and during Celtic’s Champions League match against Slovan Bratislava,

there were disturbances that resulted in the arrest of two persons.

Before the game, shocking video from the evening seemed to show fans of Slovan Bratislava,

dressed in the team’s home colors, fighting with Celtic supporters outside the McChuills pub on Glasgow High Street.

 

We described how hundreds of ardent supporters of Slovakia had assembled in George Square during the day,

passing the bar under police protection.

 

It was confirmed by the police that a 29-year-old male had been taken into custody and

charged with violating the peace after the commotion outside McChuills.

While a 39-year-old man was attacked outside the pub, an investigation is still underway.

 

Due to an alleged disturbance of the peace, another guy was detained and charged on the premises.

 

Three police riot fans were there, and at least a dozen police officers surrounded the away supporters.

With gestures and yells, the fans incensed those gathered in the beer garden.

 

Following that, there appeared to be a brawl between the police and the visiting supporters as some tried to enter the bar.

The Slovan fans were forced back by the police, who then brought order.

 

At the ground, Celtic produced an emphatic display to send their opponents packing,

opening their Champions League campaign with a 5-1 win.

 

“Enquiries are ongoing after a 39-year-old man was assaulted outside a public house on High Street,

Glasgow on Wednesday, 18 September 2024.”

“A 53-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to an alleged breach of the peace during the match at Celtic Park.

He has been released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date.”
