Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup third-round match between Tottenham Hotspur and Coventry City will require Ange Postecoglou’s team to play a careful balance.

After losing the North London Derby, Spurs have a potentially disastrous cup trip to Coventry in the Championship.

Postecoglou will want to use his players to keep them fresh, but he also has to be careful not

to let his team down too much as that might hurt their chances of winning.

The Australian made nine changes to his team in the previous season’s campaign, and after

a penalty shootout loss at Craven Cottage, his team was eliminated at the first attempt by eventual semi-finalists Fulham.

Yves Bissouma will miss out on football and injuries again.

London asked Postecoglou whether young players like Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall

and even 17-year-old Mikey Moore could feature at the Ricoh Arena on Wednesday night.

They are prepared to play, and we are eager to give them some playing time.

We brought them to the club for that reason,” he stated. “They’re training extremely well,

and while the games haven’t gone as planned in terms of exposing them to more people,

we’ve always known that this is the beginning of it.

“They will be heavily involved in our extremely busy program,

which will extend beyond now and the upcoming international break and likely extend until the end of January.

We’re eager to get players like the three you mentioned,

Wilson [Odobert], who hasn’t played much thus far, Pape [Matar Sarr], and many other guys on the field because we’re

going to need them.”

Here’s the Tottenham team we reckon Postecoglou will go with:

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario

Postecoglou has named Fraser Forster in the Europa League squad but in this single leg Carabao Cup tie he might stick with Vicario.

Right-back – Djed Spence

Left out of the Europa League squad, the full-back could get his chance in this game to make his first competitive start for Spurs.

Centre-back – Radu Dragusin

The young Romanian needs to get minutes wherever he can to keep him sharp.

Centre-back – Micky van de Ven

The Dutchman hasn’t played much football in recent months so Postecoglou might look to give him another hour or so in this game.

Left-back – Ben Davies

To add a bit of experience to the backline, the Welshman might come in and potentially captain the side, giving Udogie a rest.
