Arne Slot opens up on ‘unbelievable’ Nottingham Forest defeat after AC Milan victory
After his team overcame AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League,
Arne Slot thought back on Liverpool’s terrible loss to Nottingham Forest.
To put it mildly, the Reds’ week has been somewhat unpredictable.
They were dealt a heartbreaking 1-0 loss by Forest in the Premier League on Saturday.
but they bounced back to defeat Milan 3-1 on Tuesday.
Christian Pulisic’s first goal gave Milan the lead early on, but before halftime,
Goals from Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk completely changed the course of the match.
Dominik Szoboszlai‘s stunning third goal completed the victory.
Slot expressed the sentiments of his team when questioned about how they handled
falling behind in the first three minutes of play.
He said to Amazon Prime, “I think that was the positive thing.”
“After Saturday’s defeat, which was really devastating for us,
we were behind 1-0 after just five minutes, and we had an early opportunity as well.
but it was offside. You’re constantly curious about the team’s response.
“I believe we showed our skill with the ball. That was my statement following the game:
“If you can play this well today, it’s almost… maybe calling it a disgrace would be overkill,
but it’s unbelievable that you lose to Forest at home.”
With their first-round triumph,
Liverpool gained all three points in the newly designed Champions League structure.
They will play again at Anfield on Saturday against Bournemouth. After that,
They will play just one more European match before facing Bologna on October 2.
