Report:3 Game changing managers Stoke City must chase to lead the club after Steven Schumacher exit

According to Stoke City’s official club website, Steven Schumacher has left the team.

Following their decision to sever relations with the former Plymouth Argyle man,

Stoke City is currently searching for a new manager.

Over the weekend, they suffered a 1-0 loss at newly promoted Oxford United on the road.
The 40-year-old Schumacher easily kept the Potters in the Championship after he moved to the Bet365 Stadium in December of last year. After two victories in their first five games of the season,

they are presently ranked 13th in the table.

But in addition to Elliot Turner, Mark Hughes, Chris Cohen, and Peter Cavanagh quitting,

they decided to make a managerial change. Ryan Shawcross and Will Morris have been placed in interim charge until a permanent successor is found.

Here is a look at three candidates who Stoke City should consider for their vacancy…

David Moyes

The Scottish manager is free after leaving West Ham, and he may view the Stoke City position

as a chance to return to the dugout. Having managed 1,150 games in his career, he has a wealth of experience.

After beginning his career at Preston North End, 61-year-old Moyes has also had stints with Everton,

Manchester United, Real Sociedad, and Sunderland.

After the Hammers defeated Fiorentina in the Prague final in 2023,

he and the team won the Europa Conference League.

Murphy, Brian Barry

He worked with Manchester City’s Elite Academy Development Squad for the previous two years,

but the Premier League winners severed their connection with him in the summer.

The Irishman is currently thinking about his next month and might be a possibility for the Potters if they wish to take a more unconventional strategy.
Working with Pep Guardiola in the same setting will have taught him a lot.

The talented 46-year-old might be a good fit for Stoke City’s youthful team as they want to move up the standings and contend for the play-offs.
Frank Lampard

Could he be given a way back into the Staffordshire game? Before joining Chelsea,

Lampard led Derby County to the play-off final in 2019.

He now has a point to make because his two most recent experiences at Everton and Stamford Bridge didn’t work out in the end. The 46-year-old may need to enter the Football League or look overseas for his next opportunity as he has been unemployed for more than a year.

Stoke City will play again this Friday, hosting Hull City, in an attempt to avenge their loss to Oxford United. Before the next international break, they play Swansea City, Portsmouth, and Middlesbrough.
