Gerrard appears to make stance clear as Rangers return rumours swirl

Philippe Clement has nothing to worry about, as Steven Gerrard looks to have put an end to rumours of his return to Rangers.

Dave King has put his name forward to succeed John Bennett as chairman of the Light Blues [talkSPORT], and he has highlighted Gerrard

in his bid for a stunning return to Glasgow.

However, the Daily Record [17 September] indicates that the South African’s attempts to return to Rangers will be fruitless.

Amidst the swirling recent rumours, Gerrard has all but cemented his long-term commitment to Al-Ettifaq.

According to the Daily Record, the 44-year-old has spoken to Majed Dawran and Jack Hendry about their injury concerns, while revealing

that he is already planning for the next transfer window to bolster his team. It appears that his future will remain in Saudi Arabia rather

Belgian being stripped of his duties under a new chairman remains.

The Belgian has been under intense scrutiny at Ibrox since the 3-0 defeat to Celtic in the Old Firm, which added to the pressure following

the Champions League exit at the hands of Dynamo Kyiv earlier in the season.

Rangers’ Scottish Premiership campaign got back on track with a 1-0 win over Dundee United on Sunday [15 September], but the

Some Rangers fans would have been thrilled if Gerrard, the club’s most recent title-winning manager, had returned. Still, Clement will

need complete fan support to turn around a season that appears to be over before it even begins.

It is unclear whether the Rangers manager will remain in the Ibrox dugout at the end of the season. The deeper Celtic fall behind in the

Scottish Premiership, the more likely a management change is on the cards.
