‘Not the Scottish League’: Kevin Nolan warns Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham after NLD defeat

Ange Postecoglou thrust himself into the limelight with his trophy comments after Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the North London derby.

Spurs pushed hard to try and dent Arsenal‘s title hopes but the Gunners defended resolutely and snatched the three points through Gabriel’s second-half header.

But Ange Postecoglou came out fighting after the loss and insisted that he always wins a trophy during his second year in charge of a club.

Postecoglou’s comments were mocked by Paul Merson and others, and it has been suggested that Postecoglou is now under pressure as Spurs manager.

Losing to a weakened Arsenal side at home was always going to attract criticism, and there are now genuine concerns at Tottenham after they slumped to 13th in the Premier League table.

Ange Postecoglou sent warning message after Tottenham loss

Postecoglou’s bold statement could come back to haunt him, or he could look back in joy with a medal in his hands.

Either way, it has piled huge pressure on the Tottenham boss.

Former Premier League midfielder Kevin Nolan has now given his verdict on Postecoglou and sent him a warning message.

Via BBC, Nolan said: “I don’t think they have the squad to be better than Arsenal at this moment in time.

“It’s the Premier League, not the Scottish League, you’re not in Australia or Japan now. You’re in a proper league where people are finding chinks in your armour.

“It will be interesting to see what happens because it was very poor from Tottenham and I expected more due to Arsenal’s vulnerabilities.”

Ange Postecoglou under pressure at Tottenham

Now in Postecoglou’s second season in charge, Tottenham are targeting a top-four finish this season.

Of course, there is still time to turn things around, but back-to-back losses have put Spurs on the back foot and now pressure is starting to build.

Just four games into the season, Tottenham’s next clash against Brentford already seems like a must-win. A trip to Old Trafford follows the week after and if Postecoglou has lost three in a row then he really will start to feel the heat.

A response is needed by Spurs, and quickly.
