JUST IN: Arsenal loving £2bn-valued mega star Jay-Z tipped to make huge Everton investment.
John Textor is looking for investors as he moves to complete a takeover of Everton.
Famous Arsenal supporter Jay-Z has been linked with making an investment in Premier League struggles and
the Gunners’ top flight rivals Everton.
The Sun reports that the rapper is ‘on the radar’ of John Textor as he looks to mount a takeover of the Merseyside club.
The report adds that Jay-Z ‘could be talked into’ investing some of his huge £2 billion wealth into Everton if Textor
manages to complete a deal.
Last week, Textor said that there has been ‘progress’ in his work to buy Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake in Everton.
The American businessman must sell his 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace to meet Premier League rules but needs
help financing a buyout and future signings.
Despite his Arsenal allegiances, it is believed that Jay-Z could be tempted to join the project as
Everton prepare to move into the newly built Bramley Moore Dock.
The 54-year-old could follow in the footsteps of Ryan Reynolds, Tom Brady,
LeBron James and more in getting involved with a football club in the UK.
The artist, who is married to pop mega star Beyonce, had previously been a part-owner of the
Brooklyn Nets and his Roc Nation record label has its own sports management group.
Jay-Z was also linked with an investment in Arsenal in 2005.
Explaining his love for the Gunners in 2010, Jay-Z said: “When Thierry Henry was at the club I saw him play and
I just thought he was an amazing player. Ever since then, I have been a big fan of the club, following you guys,
and still today you play the beautiful football that Thierry did. I think he had a real long term effect on the team.”
Providing an update on his bid last week to Sky Sports, Textor said: “I’m in an awkward spot but we’re working through it.
The awkward spot is that I can understand the club’s position… the accounting position and
I feel it’s manageable in terms of the PSR problem.
“I don’t quite know the Premier League’s perspective on that because there’s a bit of a Chinese Wall between me as
an owner of Crystal Palace and what I’m really allowed to know as a prospective owner of another team in the same division.
“But I do think we’re developing solutions for that information gap and I feel we’re in the very last days of
getting our comfort around that. We just hope from the moment we arrive, we can start looking up the table, not down it.
