Coventry City filed a $3 million lawsuit against Sporting for Viktor Gyokeres’ move.

The announcement of a new hearing yesterday may make Sporting regret buying Viktor Gyokeres even more,

as Coventry is seeking an additional €3 million.

When acquired from the Sporting game, the former Coventry forward was an absolute disaster on the field.

According to Sky Sports, Coventry will get an initial payment of £2.5 million,

with an additional £1 million in add-ons included in the negotiations.

Additionally, the Championship team added a sell-on provision to the agreement, which means that if the striker leaves Sporting in the future, they will receive 15% of the transfer money.

Victor made an impression during his season stay in Portuguese during the previous season, and Sporting has been interested in acquiring him for some time.

Regarding the efforts to sign Viktor Gyokeres, Sporting had stated on Sunday that “it is ongoing.” Nothing has changed on my end. He is undoubtedly a player that excelled for us in the previous season.

“However, he is still a Coventry player; yesterday. I do not want to talk about him too much.

“We will see what the rest of the window brings.”

Coventry argue that a condition in the contract prohibiting them from transferring Viktor Gyokeres to another club was circumvented by Sporting when the parties terminated the agreement by mutual consent.

FIFA dismissed their initial appeal, and they are demanding payment of a €3 million fine. However, on December 9, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will hold a second hearing.
