BREAKING NEWS: Newcastle United tipped to sack Eddie Howe after boardroom bust-up – sources

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe still has the backing of senior club chiefs despite a recent boardroom bust-up,

Toon sources have told Football Insider.

Howe and new sporting director Paul Mitchell have been at the centre of inflamed tensions behind the scenes

at St James’ Park.

Mitchell has claimed the club’s previous transfer strategy was “unclear” and “unfit for purpose” and

accused the Magpies of overpaying for some signings.

Speaking last week, Howe revealed he has had “no contact” with the transfer guru since the close of

the window at the start of September.

Newcastle endured a frustrating transfer window which ultimately ended with them failing to sign Marc Guehi from

Crystal Palace – or a suitable alternative.

Nevertheless, the Tyneside club have made a stunning start to the new season and are unbeaten

with 10 points from four games.

It is believed the target for Howe’s side remains a top-four finish despite their frustrations in the transfer market.

Sources say Howe has “huge credit in the bank” with the club’s high-ranking officials for his work at

St James’ Park and is trusted to lead the club forwards.

Harvey Barnes handed the Magpies a 2-1 win over Wolves with a late stunner on Sunday (15 September) and

they are next in action against Fulham on Saturday (21 September).
