Kieran McKenna discusses the things they need to win in the Premier League
What is your prediction for Town’s performance this season?
Ever since we were guaranteed a spot in the Premier League,
I would give anything to have a fiver for each time someone asked me that question.
Sincerely speaking,
I have no idea at all.
Numerous unknowns exist.
How will the experienced players handle the pressure?
How talented are the recent additions?
How is the blend going to function?
What will be the composition of our starting lineup?
And a plethora of others…
Fans’ opinions differ;
some think we will finish in the top half,
while others worry that we will have a terrible time.
I guess the most widely believed opinion is that we will do well if we finish 17th and avoid relegation by a narrow margin.
Yes, but is not that not very exciting?
Consider the previous season.
Nottingham Forest won nine games out of 38 and finished in the much coveted 17th place,
six points clear of the relegated Luton.
In stark contrast to the last two daring, goal-filled promotion campaigns,
it might be the same for us.
Perhaps it is a test of our endurance!
However, as I have stated, until we have played, say,
ten games into the new season, none of us will know.
At that point, the table will begin to make sense.
Our opening two games are against perennial champions Man City and Liverpool,
so it looks difficult, but it might be a good moment to play them, especially Liverpool,
as they get used to life after Klopp.
I do know that throughout the summer,
every member of the Ipswich Town team has been working extremely hard to ensure that every part of the team is as prepared as possible to take on the chances and challenges that lie ahead.
Most significantly, the club has made significant financial investments to bolster the playing roster,
shattering our long-standing transfer record.
Every new addition is, of course, a gamble.
With the exception of the highly intriguing loan arrival of Kalvin Phillips,
we are not looking to acquire established, experienced Premier League players.
To develop players, we must take risks and put in a lot of effort.
Consider Omari Hutchinson, who we currently record-signed for almost £18 million.
Please understand that I am just as happy as the next supporter to have this promising young player return to Portman Road permanently.
Remember that he is still a young man and that at this time last year he was a promising but unproven adolescent.
He really only became noticeable in the second part of the previous season.
Hopefully, he can take the next move.
Away from the field, the team has transformed the stadium innumerable times,
most of them to comply with Premier League regulations.
Some people had to relocate seats, which caused some complaining.
It feels like a long time ago when we secured our promotion on that unforgettable day.
The wait will end tomorrow, and we will be back to playing Premier League football.
I am eager. Over the course of the previous 22 seasons,
there have been numerous instances when I have really doubted Ipswich’s ability to return to the top flight.
Particularly in those terrible seasons when we even managed to make League One appear challenging, it looked so far away.
With the American takeover and Kieran McKenna‘s hiring, everything was altered.
We are incredibly grateful to them. Our club has undergone complete transformation.
Now let us get started.
Let us take pleasure in it.
It is just what we were hoping for.
When times are hard, let us not waver in our faith.
You Premier Blues, get moving!
