Ex-Premier League star says ‘Every Team Targets’ Tottenham player following Arsenal’s loss

After Spurs’ defeat at the hands of Arsenal, former Premier League striker Dean Ashton believes that every club is aware of and will target Tottenham Hotspur’s vulnerability.

Arsenal defeated Tottenham 1-0 at their home pitch in the north London derby,

a fierce Premier League match that saw no less than eight players sent off.

Arsenal’s winner was Gabriel, who sidestepped Cristian Romero to send Bukayo Saka’s corner past Guglielmo Vicario.

That was sufficient for all three points at Tottenham,

and Ashton believes Arsenal only picked on Vicario, a weak point for Spurs.

He believes that Vicario’s susceptibility to set pieces is evident,

and that the Italian’s determination to stick to his line demonstrated this once more.

“It is their weak spot, Tottenham, is not it?” Ashton remarked following the goal on talkSPORT‘s Sunday Session.

Vicario is the objective of every team’s set plays.

He is unable to get off his line and is pinned behind the players. He does not have the right to just come punch people.

Gabriel is among the best when it comes to blocking shots from inside the six-yard box.

Vicario can not respond because he is only standing on his line, but he powers it past him.

Over the course of the previous season, Tottenham gave up 16 goals from set pieces, raising concerns about their level of defense readiness.

The derby defeat may cause more people to doubt Postecoglou’s methods for preparing his squad to face a significant opponent threat.
