Brighton receives Tommy Watson boost as they pursue Sunderland deal.

With Tommy Watson on their radar, the Seagulls utilize one of their own players to entice another to Amex Stadium.

With other Premier League teams showing interest in Sunderland winger Tommy Watson,

Brighton & Hove Albion appear to have gained an advantage in the recruitment race.

Watson would be interested in connecting with his friend Josh Robertson at the Amex Stadium, according to a report by Alan Nixon.

The Seagulls have taken action in an attempt to maintain their status as a well-established Premier League team.

During the summer transfer window,

they made high-profile signings to bring in Yankuba Minteh, Mats Wieffer,

Brajan Gruda, Georginio Rutter,

a former Leeds United player,

Matt O’Riley, and Ferdi Kadioglu.

They demonstrated a genuine desire to improve.

They have not only made an investment in their starting squad,

but they have also sought to assemble a young, talented roster in order to develop for the future.

Tommy Watson gives Brighton momentum in their pursuit of a Sunderland deal.

During the summer window, the Seagulls tried to push a deal over the line for Watson, but the Black Cats remained steadfast at that time.

They declined a £2.5 million offer and are now waiting for a higher offer for one of their most talented young players.

After failing to land a summer contract, the Premier League team could have given up on the teenager, but they appear to still be intrigued, and other English top flight teams are also keeping an eye on the player.

But Watson is drawn to the chance to work with Robertson on the south coast,

and in light of this, Fabian Hurzeler’s team might suddenly be the favorites to earn the winger‘s contract.

Watson has not been a regular member of the first team for the Black Cats.

It is hardly shocking that he has not made many senior appearances, though, given that he is only 18 years old.

He is very highly regarded at the Stadium of Light,

as evidenced by the fact that he has already made appearances with the first team.

While large offers might need to be taken into account,

the Wearside team should be concentrating on retaining a talented young group for the time being.

They already have players like Chris Rigg and Jobe Bellingham (seen above) at their disposal; but,

they need to keep individuals like Watson, who all have extremely high ceilings.

It will be intriguing to watch what happens,

but if the Black Cats want to convince the 18-year-old to stay put,

they might need to provide senior game time.
