With the refusal of £50,000 per week, Rangers said goodbye to a player who had made 400 appearances.

James Tavernier will continue at Rangers unless an extraordinary event occurs before the end of play today.

Several media outlets have “confirmed” that the team captain held discussions with several potential clubs but ultimately chose to stay at Ibrox.

Despite all the excitement around his possible departure, it is said that Tavernier refused down larger salaries elsewhere to stay with Rangers. Some claim he went down £50,000 per week to stay as the team’s captain and right back.

What does this story eventually mean?

We have conducted an Ibrox Noise poll to see how fans are responding to this unofficial/official news, and we will share the results with you later.

To begin with, that implies that, contrary to the desires of certain Rangers supporters,

Dujon Sterling “probably” will not be playing at right back, as Ibrox Noise has indicated is not his best position anyhow.

Additionally, it implies that Rangers will remain exposed on both fronts,

with Celtic particularly running hot butter through Rangers’ wings and Maeda in particular continuing to have an absolute field day against Tav.

After a summer of heavy speculation, it is said that James Tavernier refused to leave the club in its hour of need.

This may have been a bit dramatic and an exaggeration of his significance, but the message is clear:

James Tavernier is not going anywhere.

Naturally, this is all in response to the abuse he has received,

including the press-focused fan incident at Ibrox where a supporter used somewhat evocative language to ask him to leave the club.

However, it is now 99% certain that Tavernier is not going anywhere,

therefore none of it matters, and the supporters who wanted to see him go do not really matter.

Still, we had to laugh at the journalist who said last week that he knew this.

Ironically, he chose not to report it.

Interested.

Whatever your opinion of Tav, he is here to stay,

and at least another year of his contentious antics at RB are probably ahead of us.
