He has now acknowledged that he is “hurting.” It was disclosed on Tuesday that Sinner had tested positive for the prohibited drug clostebol twice at Indian Wells earlier in the year.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) later exonerated the defending Australian Open champion, sparing him from the maximum penalty of a two-year ban. Less than a billionth of a gram of clostebol, according to Sinner, was detected in his system.

According to an impartial tribunal, Naldi may have accidentally rubbed the material into Sinner’s skin, which could have resulted in positive testing.

According to reports, he was treating a cut on his own finger with a spray that fitness instructor Umberto Ferrara suggested was only available in Italy. Afterwards, Naldi treated Sinner without donning gloves.

After the scandal, Sinner broke up with Naldi, and the Italian reorganized his backroom staff before the US Open. Since then, Naldi has posted a lengthy statement on Instagram expressing his gratitude for Sinner’s collaboration and best wishes for the future.

Amidst the extensive media coverage of his role in Sinner’s positive tests, he further maintained that he has always operated entirely professionally and asserted that he is the victim of a media witch hunt.

“It’s true that there are two paths to justice: the real one sanctioned by the courts and the (unfortunately more effective) sanctioned by media,” Naldi said. “The latter is much too frequently predicated on flimsy evidence, which in this instance is, incidentally, publicly available.

“Even as a spectator, I used to wonder why extraordinary court proceedings were held, if not to judge, construct, or destroy individuals and their reputations. I’ve proved that I’m the star of today.

“I joined an amazing work group a year and a half ago, full of wonderful professionals, nice people, and travel buddies. Together, we have experienced happy and painful times, shared feelings, and experienced both successes and setbacks. I developed close relationships with the members of this group.

Above all, I was able to accomplish historical firsts that have contributed to the development of Italian tennis history. Being a member of this fantastic team makes me proud.

I know I gave it my all and that I was completely professional, but I also know that I gave more because when you put your heart into something, you always offer more.

“It’s difficult not to be in the box with you and support Jannik; it aches to think of not being a part of it anymore, but I’ll have to get used to it soon. You are a champion, Jannik. Thank you and best of luck for a wonderful career.”

Additionally, Ferrara is rumored to have quit Sinner’s camp following the doping scandal, which came to light just a few days prior to the US Open. As he gets ready to compete for triumph at Flushing Meadows against Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner will be attempting to get past it.
