West Ham handed major transfer boost in pursuit of £48m Chelsea ace as major decision made
The growing connection between West Ham and Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling has given
the London Stadium team a significant boost.
The devastating news that the 29-year-old winger would likely not play much, if at all,
for Chelsea was delivered to him by newly appointed Blues head coach Enzo Maresca. Maresca told reporters,
“We have a big squad, for me it’s impossible to give everyone minutes.
” Therefore, it would probably be best to depart if they are seeking for the minutes.
“It’s not that he’s not a talented player; I just like other types of wingers.
” When I met with Raheem prior to Manchester City, I predicted that he would find it difficult to play for us.
The winger, who cost the Blues £47.5 million in 2022, is said to
be of great interest to Saudi Arabia Pro League team Al-Ahli. The transfer rumors started to
flow quickly after that. The 123 goals scored in the top level for
the England international were reportedly being evaluated for
a lifeline by Serie A’s Juventus, while HITC reports indicated
that Crystal Palace and West Ham were also considering a move.
Although Al-Ahli were thought to possess the superior financial resources to entice
the £325,000-a-week ex-Manchester City star to their club, Sterling has reportedly
confirmed that he does not wish to leave the Premier League and,
in a bid to return to the international squad, does not want a Saudi Pro League move.
Although it was thought that Al-Ahli had the greater financial resources
to entice the £325,000-a-week former Manchester City player to join them,
Sterling has reportedly stated that he does not want to leave the
Premier League and does not want to play in the Saudi Pro League in an effort to rejoin the national team.
Journalist Kaveh Solhekol from Sky Sports posted on X, formerly Twitter,
stating that Raheem Sterling desires to remain in the Premier League.
He wants to play for his nation once again and his family is based in England, so moving
to Saudi Arabia is not an option for him right now.
“He is aware of his current situation and that he has no future at Chelsea.
Finding him a new club on a permanent agreement will now demand an honest and
open discussion. Sterling’s Chelsea contract does not have
a condition that lowers his pay should the team not be in
the Champions League, in contrast to the contracts of many
other players. Sterling was the club’s first significant
acquisition following Chelsea’s takeover two years prior.
With a roster of 42 players, Sterling has not been selected to play at Stamford
Bridge this evening in Chelsea’s Europa Conference League play-off match
against Servette. Pedro Neto, a recent summer addition,
will wear the coveted number nine shirt instead of Sterling.
Should West Ham be able to find a way to convince the
ex-Liverpool starlet to reduce his wage demands,
the Hammers could secure their most impressive transfer coup in some time.
