Newcastle is currently considering Axel Disasi and Edmond Tapsoba.

Journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic claims that Newcastle United has stepped up their search for a new center back and has begun looking into options other than Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace.

After having numerous bids rejected for Guehi earlier in the transfer window,

the Magpies want to be prepared with a number of options in case a deal cannot be reached with Palace.

The 24-year-old is available for acquisition.

Newcastle’s most recent offer, which was £60 million plus an additional £5 million, was again rejected by the Eagles, who are rumored to be looking for as much as £70 million for the England international.

Steve Parish, the chairman and co-owner of Palace, warned prospective bidders earlier this month in an interview with Sky Sports,

implying that Guehi’s departure this summer would cost “superstar money.”

The Selhurst Park team will be eager to hang onto their dependable center back,

particularly now that Fulham has agreed to pay £30 million to recruit Joachim Andersen, who will be his teammate.

The 2020–21 season saw the Denmark international play on loan for Fulham from Lyon before signing a five-year contract with Palace in the summer.
