Dan Bardell believes Diego Carlos will start ahead of Kosta Nedeljkovic for Aston Villa against Arsenal.

Unai Emery will be forced into a change against the Gunners on Saturday night (24 August) after Matty Cash was forced off against West Ham.

The Poland international could be ruled out for weeks meaning a fresh face will come in at Villa Park.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes Carlos will come in due to the inexperience of Nedeljkovic.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “It would be a big ask to put Nedeljkovic in against Arsenal, one of the best teams in European football.

Diego Carlos to make Aston Villa return v Arsenal
The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from B6 all summer but now seems likely to stay on and return against Arsenal.

Last season, the 31-year-old was excellent in both clashes against the Gunners as Villa secured six points against the side that finished second.

With Cash out, there is a chance that he could return to the starting XI which would see Konsa forced out to the right-hand side.

Emery could also look to hand Nedeljkovic a first Premier League start but it would be a big ask against the likes of Gabriel Martinelli.
