Jack Clarke: Update in Leeds, Ipswich Town & Southampton race – sources

Ipswich Town have submitted a bid for Sunderland winger Jack Clarke but face competition from Southampton, Leeds and Bournemouth over a deal, sources have told Football Insider.

West Ham are not planning to pursue their interest in the 23-year-old after holding talks over a January move.

Ipswich are believed to have offered a package that will include a downpayment of £15 million topped up by performance-related add-ons.

Sunderland have so far fought off bids for Clarke and were believed to want a fee in the region of £20 million. Ipswich’s package will include add-ons to take the fee closer to that mark.

The Premier League new boys have had a busy transfer window so far as they seek survival in the English top flight this season.

Omari Hutchinson, Ben Johnson, Jacob Greaves, Liam Delap, Aro Muric, Conor Townsend, and Sammie Szmodics have all made permanent moves to Portman Road – and Kalvin Phillips and Jens Cajuste have joined on loan.

Clarke has revived his career at Sunderland following his failed move to Premier League giants Tottenham and managed to score 15 goals and provide four assists for the club last season.

Kieran McKenna feels that Clarke can handle the step up to the Premier League this time around and is keen to give him the opportunity.
