Leicester City ‘closing in’ on loan signing of 19-year-old Brighton star.
Leicester City are allegedly close to signing Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Last season, the 19-year-old played on the fringes for the Seagulls in the Premier League,
making only 17 appearances in Roberto De Zerbi’s starting lineup.
Having said that, Buonanotte appeared in 27 top-flight games,
scoring three goals and contributing one assist as Brighton competed on both the local and European fronts.
The forward appeared in five of the Seagulls’ Europa League group games,
but the South Coast club was unable to secure an unexpected European victory.
Buonanotte joined Brighton from Rosario Central in January 2023 and has made 50 appearances for the club,
scoring five goals.
Leicester set to sign Brighton’s Buonanotte on loan?
With the possibility of a points deduction looming,
Leicester need a squad that is willing to compete for a top-17 finish in the Premier League this season.
Although loan players frequently become disassociated with the fates of their temporary clubs,
it is difficult to deny that Buonanotte‘s talent would be a significant asset to the Foxes.
However, Steve Cooper’s team already has a top-tier right winger in Abdul Fatawu,
who has joined permanently from Sporting Lisbon.
As a result, Buonanotte might play as an advanced midfielder alongside Harry Winks and Wilfred Ndidi in the engine room.
