Djokovic now has an Olympic gold medal after surpassing Rafael Nadal on the all-time Grand Slam list last year, becoming the first man to win 24 Majors and the first tennis player to spend 400 weeks at the top of the world rankings.

In terms of statistics, Djokovic has outperformed Nadal and Roger Federer, his two main competitors. Despite the fact that some have been claiming for a year now that Djokovic has unquestionably won the GOAT discussion, some have questioned if the Serbian is truly deserving of the title of greatest athlete of all time in light of his achievements.

When questioned about it, former world No. 1 and gold medallist at the 2000 Sydney Olympics Kafelnikov stated that Djokovic is “definitely” among the greatest athletes of all time.

“Novak is without a doubt the greatest tennis player of all time. Can you compare him to Michael Jordan? I don’t, since I grew up idolizing Michael Jordan, the greatest athlete of all time, and all I wanted to do was see him play live.

To me, he has always been No. 1, but Novak is unquestionably one of the top three best athletes of all time, with all of his accomplishments, records broken, and trophies won…” Kafelnikov informed Tennis Majors.

Following one of the most terrible and tragic losses of his career to Alexander Zverev in the Tokyo Olympics semifinal, Novak Djokovic promised to return stronger for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Djokovic also made a point of emphasizing on multiple occasions following Tokyo how crucial it was for him to finish his résumé and win an Olympic gold medal.

With all Djokovic has ever wanted and almost nothing left to prove, Kafelnikov worries that the Serb might never be able to motivate himself. Even yet, the 50-year-old Russian emphasizes that Djokovic has the right to play for enjoyment alone if that is his desire, and that no one can be critical of him for that.
