Southampton keen on Sassuolo forward Armand Gaetan Lauriente

Southampton are interested in signing Sassuolo forward Armand Gaetan Lauriente this summer and have contacted

his representatives, according to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport.

Lazio is also interested in the Frenchman, but the Saints hope that the opportunity to play in the Premier League

would appeal to him more.

Southampton are ready to return to the Premier League after defeating Leeds United in the Championship play-off

final last season, and manager Russell Martin wants to add Lauriente to his team.

The 25-year-old might cost suitors approximately €15 million (£12.9 million), and the Saints’ attack would benefit

greatly from his electrifying pace.

Sassuolo was demoted to Serie B after placing 19th last season, and they are anxious to cash in on Lauriente.

The Southampton target finished 2023-24 with five goals and four assists in 37 league games,

after scoring seven goals and six assists in 2022-23.

Lauriente also excelled while with Lorient, and his versatility would be beneficial to

Martin if he is able to join the St Mary’s Stadium club.

Despite his primary role as a left winger, the former France youth international can also play as a right winger and a

number 9, and having a player capable of giving the squad with a variety of positional alternatives makes sense.

Southampton have already signed Flynn Downes, Ronnie Edwards, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Yukinari Sugawara, Ben

Brereton Diaz, Nathan Wood, Adam Lallana, Brook Myers, Khiani Shombe,

and Charlie Taylor, with Wellington and Juan expected to arrive in January.

They’ll hope that’s enough to keep them going this season, and adding Lauriente to the roster may be a significant

help.
