season. Following the arrival of new manager José Mourinho, the former Rangers star has been declared surplus to requirements for the upcoming season. According to Turkish site Sabah, the former Chelsea manager has named Kent as one of six foreign players he plans to let go this summer.

Ankara Haber has recently reported that his former Rangers head coach, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, is attempting to sign him at Beşiktaş. Fenerbahçe’s Süper Lig rivals are ‘taking significant moves’ to initiate a deal for Kent, who has not played since March.

Kent is not part of Mourinho’s long-term plans, and Fenerbahçe are said to be willing to ‘accept’ his exit. Kent started his career with Liverpool and was signed by Rangers in 2019 after a good loan spell. He made 218 appearances for the Light Blues, scoring 33 goals and assisting 56 times.

Kent now appears to be relying on another of his old Rangers managers to help him get out of this jam.

Van Bronckhorst took over as manager at Ibrox after Gerrard moved to Aston Villa, however he was fired in November 2022. The Dutchman has been with Beşiktaş since last month and is looking to strengthen his squad by bringing in one of his former Kent players.
