Aston Villa transfer complete & medical imminent after Newcastle United & Celtic talks

Celtic and Aston Villa have reached an agreement, and this week they plan to finalise a double

custodian raid.

Viljami Sinisalo, a Finnish international, has joined the Scottish champions from Aston Villa on a

five-year contract. The team is also nearing an agreement with Denmark international Kasper Schmeichel, who left Anderlecht as a free agent.

After Joe Hart retired, Celtic looked for a replacement, and so far this summer, they have been connected to many goalkeepers. Celtic was considering Martin Dubravka of Newcastle United as a goalkeeping candidate.

With the arrival of Odysseas Vlachodimos and John Ruddy, the Slovakian’s future in Tyneside is now questionable, as he was absent from Euro 2024. However, Celtic’s interest in the Newcastle custodian

is all but gone due to the acquisition of Sinisalo and the impending signing of Schmeichel.

Although other leagues, such as the Saudi Pro League, are still interested in Dubravka, Newcastle has

not received any firm proposals this summer.

Dubravka responded, “I am aware that there are rumours; teammates ask me about them, agents and people call me, if there is any truth to it.” in response to a question regarding his future prior to Euro 2024.

“You see, I stayed in Newcastle, so there was some truth to that a year ago. As long as there isn’t an official offer on the table, I won’t deal with it at all.

“I informed my agents that I would only take it into consideration if it was concrete and there was an offer. It is currently limited to making some noises.
