Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, a former Pompey target, might be visiting the south coast this summer after all.

Blues supporters shouldn’t become overly enthusiastic, though,

as rumors indicate Southampton is now the front-runner for the talented young winger.

Transfer expert Alan Nixon claims that the Saints have made an attempt

to entice the 21-year-old to leave Selhurst Park. The former Chelsea young player

has been linked to a loan move, but at this point, a permanent transfer is also conceivable.

Many Championship clubs will be devastated by their interest and the St. Mary’s team’s ability to give Rak-Sakyi Premier League football the following season.

Hull, QPR, Sheffield United, Blackburn, and Luton are among

those reportedly considering the former Charlton loanee during the current transfer window.

When Pompey was certain of the player’s Championship status for the upcoming season,

they also expressed interest in him back in May. The News did, however,

reveal last month that the Blues were no longer investing resources in a possible trade.
Pompey recognized right away that signing the winger to PO4 with the intention of him

playing a major role in their inaugural season back in the second division was a bold move.

Rak-Sakyi’s name was on several teams’ desired lists, therefore

there were questions in the Blues’ football department over how to negotiate

a loan for the London player.

Now, it seems that Southampton, the Premier League’s new boys,

as well as the Blues’ fiercest opponents, may win the promising forward.

Pompey swiftly put their pursuit of Rak-Sakyi behind them by finalizing Josh Murphy’s permanent transfer and securing Sammy Silvera’s loan move from Middlesbrough, a wide player.

The Norwich player Abu Kamara, who was on loan at Fratton Park last season, is still a target for the Blues. A bid to bring the winger back to the south coast is expected to be submitted this week, according to Football Insider.

In related transfer news, Karamoko Dembele, who made an impression when on loan at Blackpool last season, is reportedly being pursued by Pompey, Sheffield Wednesday, and Derby. Dembele has scored nine goals and provided fourteen assists in that time.
