Pep Guardiola has already stated his intention to take on an international role.

The Three Lions are looking for Gareth Southgate’s replacement after the 53-year-old resigned from

his position days after his side lost their second consecutive European Championship final.

In a statement, the FA stated that the process of hiring Southgate’s successor was already started,

with a manager to be revealed as soon as possible.

With England’s Nations League campaign slated to begin in September, an interim solution might be chosen if necessary.

Guardiola has long been touted as a potential international manager.

The Spaniard, who has won everything there is to win at club level with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City,

is under contract with the latter until next summer but may seek a new challenge thereafter.

Naturally, Guardiola’s salaries are likely to be a stumbling issue; but,

the manager has already shown an interest in managing on the international scene,

as long as it is not with Spain.

“I think that is not going to happen,” Guardiola, a patriotic Catalan,

said in 2018 when asked if he would like to manage Spain in the future.

Speaking broadly about international management, however, Guardiola said: “In our lives,

we have ambitions of what we’d like to do in the future, but  it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.

“I would like to play in the World Cup and the European Championship. I’d like to live in such scenario.

When I see the World Cup, I think I want to be there. I only got one chance to do it as a player.

“In eight, twelve, or fourteen years, maybe it will happen.

It’s just a dream for me as a manager and a person. “Maybe it happens, maybe not.”
