HERE WE GO! Willy Gnonto to Everton, July 21st scheduled for medicals. Leeds set…

According to Sky Sports, Everton’s plans to sign Willy Gnonto “can only happen” until they have finished selling Amadou Onana to Aston Villa.

After being “frustrated” by the Whites’ refusal to trade the Leeds United winger last summer, the Toffees are pursuing him, according to a live update from Jessica Creighton on Sky Sports News on July 15.

However, since negotiations with Villa are still ongoing regarding Onana’s £50 million departure,

any agreement involving the Elland Road attacker will need to wait until the high-profile departure is completed.

Following the sale of teenage sensation Archie Gray to Tottenham, Leeds is reportedly not “actively” attempting to sell any players.

Villa Park is where Amadou Onana is expected to leave Everton.

The pursuit of Gnonto should be feasible in a short amount of time,

barring any unanticipated setbacks in the negotiations with Aston Villa or an unanticipated hiccup in Onana‘s physical.

The tests are slated to happen after the Belgian player’s post-Euro 2024 break [Telegraph,

July 13], but it doesn’t seem probable that the agreement will last.

Even if Tim Iroegbunam has already moved in the opposite direction this summer, the 22-year-old’s departure will seriously reduce the choices available in the midfield.

Lesley Ugochukwu of Chelsea might be signed on loan,

which would be a desirable move for the Toffees [Foot Mercato, July 13].

However, it was evident that Sean Dyche wanted Gnonto a year ago, and given that negotiations for Jesper Lindstrom were also initiated with Napoli, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on July 13,

there is still an emphasis on adding more offensive options throughout the window.

Iliman Ndiaye has joined on a permanent basis from Marseille,

and Jack Harrison has already moved on a second loan from Elland Road.

But it is perhaps not surprise that Dyche and Kevin Thelwell would reevaluate the deal given that they had previously tried in vain to get 20-year-old Italy international Gnonto,

given that Leeds’ defeat in the play-off final may have opened the door.
