Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa are all preparing to speed up their pursuit of Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville, who is available for £40 million this summer, according to the Mirror.

Summerville was named Championship Player of the Year last season after leading the Whites with 19 goals and nine assists. Daniel Farke’s side’s failure to regain promotion to the Premier League may mean that the Dutchman leaves Elland Road this transfer window, with numerous interested parties lining up.

While Paris Saint-Germain are rumored to be interested, the three English top flight teams may be the most likely destinations for the 22-year-old, given their capacity to provide more consistent playing time. Leeds are said to be willing to sanction a transfer for Summerville, but are expecting a sum of around £40 million for his services.

Palace, Newcastle and Villa set to battle for Summerville

All three clubs are looking for a winger.

Summerville came up through Feyenoord’s system and moved to Leeds in 2020, despite never making a senior game for the Eredivisie club.

Glimpses of quality in the Yorkshire club’s 2022/23 relegation struggle raised concerns that he would not play in the Championship, but the wide forward chose to stay at Elland Road.

This move finally paid dividends for the Netherlands under-21 international’s career, as he flourished last season in Farke’s side, netting 21 goals in all competitions. Now, a move to the Premier League is on the cards, with three clubs vying for his talents.

According to the Mirror (print version, Sunday 14th July, page 74), Palace, Newcastle, and Villa are all aggressively pursuing the player. This might trigger a bidding battle, while Leeds are said to be willing to accept an offer in the £40 million range.

Summerville, dubbed as “unplayable” by Sky Sports commentator Michael Dawson, is viewed by Palace as a direct replacement for Michael Olise, who left to join Bayern Munich earlier this month. The south London club received £50.8 million for the Frenchman, giving them the financial freedom to pursue a bid for the Leeds player.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are seeking for an improvement on Miguel Almiron, with the Magpies in talks with a Saudi Pro-League club about signing the Paraguayan.

Villa could lose Moussa Diaby this summer, with Al-Ittihad set to make a bid for the player. Both Newcastle and the Midlands club have touted Summerville as a potential replacement for their outgoing widemen.

Villa Winning Race to Sign Philogene

The Hull City man will get a medical today.

Another of last season’s budding Championship stars, Jaden Philogene, has had a physical with Aston Villa ahead of a £18 million move from Hull City. The winger scored 12 league goals for the Tigers last season and is expected to return to Villa Park after leaving the Birmingham club last summer.

This signing may decrease Villa’s desire to acquire Summerville, potentially enabling Palace

Newcastle has an advantage in the race to recruit the player. However, with Diaby potentially leaving, Unai Emery may believe that replacing the Frenchman with two Championship teenagers and rotating them with Leon Bailey is a wise move ahead of next season.
