The recruitment has not stopped with the former Premier League champion. According to Football Insider, Celtic have’reached a full deal’ to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo.

The 22-year-old Finland international is likely to complete his move to Glasgow ‘in the next 24 to 48 hours’. According to the source, the Hoops want Sinisalo to be Schmeichel’s deputy, which will be ideal for the Villa star.

Sinisalo, who spent last season on loan at Exeter City, progressed through Finland’s youth system and has made two senior appearances for his country. According to his profile on the Finland National Team website, Sinisalo ‘lists Kasper Schmeichel as his football inspiration’ and characterizes himself as ‘an aggressive goalkeeper.

Sinisalo’s ability to work alongside someone he admires will undoubtedly bring out the best in him. Schmeichel, 38, is a short-term solution for Celtic’s goalkeeping problems, but his apprentice can undoubtedly learn what he needs to prosper as his successor at Parkhead.
