On Monday night, Bronny James, the Lakers draft pick, continued an unlucky run of bad three-point shooting. He viciously airballed the shot.

After an unremarkable rookie season at USC, James—the son of Lebron James—was chosen No. 55 overall in this month’s NBA Draft.

And he’s now 0-15 from three point range this summer, including his outings at the California Classic Summer League, as the Lakers finished their Las Vegas Summer League game against the Celtics 0-3 from beyond the arc.

The Lakers lost the game 88-74, but James did show off his defensive prowess at one point during the game when he successfully defended a 1-on-4 scenario against Boston.

James also swatted away an alley-oop pass from JD Davison intended for Jordan Walsh in the first quarter, sending the ball out of bounds and giving his team a chance to reset.

The 19-year-old has shown some impressive athleticism and basketball IQ, but he probably wouldn’t have been selected if he hadn’t been chosen by his father’s Lakers.

For USC, he scored 4.8 points per game on average during a challenging season for the team and him individually.

Also, the typically formidable USC team had a poor year, finishing 15–18.

James is likely to stay with the Lakers, regardless of how well he performs in the Summer League.

With nearly $4 million guaranteed, he inked a reported seven-year, $7.9 million contract with the team, an exceptionally large sum for a late second-round pick.\
