The man who assisted in orchestrating Oscar Cortes’

move to Ibrox says the player is on a “good path” with the Rangers.

On the day of the January transfer deadline, the Colombian winger signed

a loan agreement with the Gers, initially with the option to purchase at

the end of the campaign, when Cortes would have committed to a

four-year contract. But a severe injury denied the wide player crucial playing time,

so the Ligue 1 team agreed to another loan, this time with a buyout clause at

the end of the 2024–2025 campaign.

After missing several games last season due to injury,

Cortes is back to full strength

and is currently participating in his first preseason with the

Govan club under Philippe Clement. Supporters were thrilled to see

the flashes of his brilliance. At a Lisbon TransferRoom networking event in

November of last year, Tomas Sarmiento, the owner of Top Athlete management,

which represents Cortes, planted the seeds of the Rangers transaction.

He aims to complete similar deals, which will bring more latin

American talent to Europe.

“Through TransferRoom we had he opportunity to create exchanges,

meetings and all of this,” he stated. “A good agreement was reached,

and Oscar Cortes will stay with the Rangers. It is a club that has

substantially aided in his growth and adjustment to life in Europe.

“I believe he’s headed in the right direction, and hopefully

with all the support TransferRoom offered, we can keep growing our

partnership and explore new markets.”

Borna Barisic, meantime, has disclosed that he declined offers to

join Trabzonspor from a number of elite European teams in

favor of staying with Rangers. After six years in Glasgow,

the former Ibrox full defender and his Rangers teammate

John Lundstram joined the Turkish team this summer.

In his first interview since joining the team, the 31-year-old Croatian,

who played 236 games for Rangers, stated he had several options after

deciding to leave Clement’s squad. “Many European clubs made me offers,

but Trabzonspor’s efforts to persuade me to sign were very impressive,” he stated.

“I spoke with the manager after learning that Trabzonspor was considering me.” The agreement was finalized in a few days throughout the ensuing procedure. Our meetings moved along quite rapidly. Additionally, decision-making was a breeze. My pals told me nothing but good things about Trabzonspor when I spoke to them.
