Mavericks supporters are outraged by Jared McCain’s disdain for Luka Doncic.

Although Jared McCain is a favorite among TikTok users, the Dallas Mavericks fan community recently attacked him. In an interview, the rookie for the Philadelphia 76ers was given the well-known question, “Start, Bench, Cut.” To further complicate matters, McCain was required to select from three outstanding players: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Edwards, and Luka Doncic.

The 6-foot-3 guard then chose a response that infuriated Mavs fans on the internet.

“I’m going to launch SGA,” McCain declared. “Dang, and you bench Ant.” Luka’s cutting is absurd. If you even use TikTok or anything similar, I apologize.

The Dallas supporters became enraged with X, despite McCain’s apology for having to bench the team’s top scorer from the previous season.

The people on social media do have a point. Doncic and the Mavericks defeated Edwards and Gilgeous-Alexander in the playoffs of the previous season.

Dallas faced the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the West semifinals after advancing past the first round. The Thunder had the advantage in Game 1, but the Mavericks were able to win Game 3 at home by stealing one on the road.

Although the Thunder managed to level the series, it would be their final win of the campaign. Doncic and company advanced to the Western Conference Finals after winning Games 5 and 6.

Doncic averaged a nearly triple double of 24.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 8.7 assists in six games against Oklahoma City. Even though he didn’t score as much as fans were used to, when the Mavericks played the Minnesota Timberwolves, he finally started to consistently score thirty points every night.

To find out who controlled the West took slightly more than a week. Dallas was able to go out to a 3-0 lead thanks to the near-unstoppable play of their franchise player. Doncic, who displayed a variety of offensive skills every night, scored at least 30 points in Games 1 through 3.

His game-winning step-back three against Rudy Gobert in Game 2 served as a prime example of this.

The fourth game of the series was won by the Timberwolves, but Doncic’s 36-point performance in Game 5 gave the Mavericks the victory. Throughout the series, he averaged 32.4 points per game, earning him a trip to the NBA Finals for the first time.

Even though Dallas’ season ended without a championship, things appear to be getting better going forward. The primary narrative surrounding the Mavericks’ offseason is the signing of Klay Thompson, a standout player for the Golden State Warriors.

After losing in the Finals, the Dallas supporters may now celebrate because Doncic is surrounded by additional firepower.
